Special cleaning at Heidelberg Castle
As part of its cultural sponsorship, Kärcher cleaned the world-famous Heidelberg Castle.

Heidelberg Castle towers over the Old Town and Neckar River and attracts over a million visitors from all over the world every year. As one of the most famous castle ruins in Germany, it bears witness to the splendor of bygone eras and is a symbol of romance and history. As part of its cultural sponsorship, the family-owned company Kärcher is now cleaning the floors in the English Building and Apothecary Tower of the world-famous ruins free of charge. To mark its 90th anniversary, the family-owned company has set itself the goal of carrying out a total of 90 cleaning projects worldwide in 2025, and the one in Heidelberg is now the first in Germany.
The work took over a week and was carried out by a team of eight Kärcher employees. Hot water high-pressure cleaners were used in the gentle steam stage, which work with a low impact pressure of just 0.5 to 1 bar. The dirt was mainly removed by the high temperature of the steam, which is around 95 degrees Celsius on the stone surface. This type of cleaning is virtually pressureless, making it very gentle and does not damage the original substance of the flooring. Thanks to the high temperature at which the steam hits the stone surface, seeds and spores in the stone pores are also destroyed, which delays re-growth.
